Sharing in the Learning and Teaching Expo 2024 by Mrs Cathy Chu and S.6 students
Date: 02/01/2025
On December 11th, I attended the Learning and Teaching Expo at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre with Carol Chen (6A 05). We had the opportunity to participate in a session led by Mrs. Cathy Chu, our Biology teacher.
Dr. Joseph Chan from the Department of Ophthalmology at HKU Medicine demonstrated the use of Augmented Reality (AR) technologies to illustrate the visual symptoms and progression of various vision-threatening diseases. Following this, Mrs. Chu shared her insights on a lesson study, emphasizing how three-year projects can foster self-directed learning skills and make lessons more innovative and interactive. We also shared our experiences regarding the use of AR in understanding eye diseases, which sparked a valuable discussion about integrating technology in education. After the session, we explored the Expo, discovering a wealth of resources and activities designed to stimulate student curiosity and engagement in learning. This experience prompted me to reflect on the importance of balancing technological advancements with fundamental skills to ensure a well-rounded education.
